According to the police, on July 31, Amardeep Bindra, 38, Director of Bindra Constructions and his family, who were out of town only returned to find their 6-BHK flat at Sher E Punjab colony in Andheri (E) broken into.
Bindra has reported having been looted of approximately Rs18.50 lakh worth of cash and belongings.
"The work of an insider is suspected since only three rooms where cash and jewellery were stored had been broken into. On initial questioning, the neighbours were unable to provide any clue, since they claim to have not heard of any commotion or seen any suspicious activity. The servants of the household seem to be very plausible suspects, but outcome of any interrogation remains to be seen. This being the job of professionals also remains a possibility," said a police officer.
"We are investigating this case to the best of our abilities, but details of the investigation cannot be divulged as yet. There has been no breakthrough so far," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone X, Vinayak Deshmukh.
