City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) chairman and former Maharashtra minister Nakul Patil died of a heart attack here this morning.

He was 75 and is survived by wife and two children. Patil complained of restlessness last night and was admitted to a hospital at Dombivili.

As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Jupiter hospital in Thane, where he passed away in the early hours.

Originally a congress leader, Patil, a former MLA,later joined NCP. He was twice appointed the chairman of CIDCO, a Maharashtra government urban development agency.

An advocate by profession, Patil was a cabinetminister in late 1980s. He unsuccessfully contested the Thane Lok Sabha seat in 1999.

Patil was given a state funeral which was attended by several prominent personalities and a large number of locals.
