Some residents of Panjrapol, Gautam Nagar in Chembur sat on an indefinite hunger strike on Tuesday. They are protesting the lack of water for almost over a year."We have been complaining to the authorities for over a year and there has still been no solution to the problem," said Arvind Naik, a resident. According to residents, on certain days the supply becomes so little that it amounts to nothing on several days. Before elections residents allege politicians threaten to cut water supply if they do not get votes.Around 10,000 people reside in the area. They have to go downhill to get water and then return, making it tiring. Over four people are on an indefinite hunger strike and their neighbours are sitting to support them."Despite giving it to you in writing and talking to you about our problems, there has been no solution. Hence today we have decided to sit on an indefinite hunger strike," wrote Sonu Musle to municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta.Mehta, the municipal commissioner when contacted, said, "Let me just check this up."
