Divisional railway manager, Mumbai division, MC Chauhan confirmed this by stating that Jan Ahar outlets will be started at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT); Kalyan, Panvel and Igatpuri stations.

Chauhan said the CST outlet will soon be operational. “We have the necessary infrastructure in place (for the CST outlet). The outlets planned at Panvel and LTT should come up in the next 2 months.”

Started in 2009, the Jan Ahaar scheme is the brainchild of the Passenger Services Committee of the Indian Railways. The food prices at Jan Ahaar outlets are between Rs10 and Rs35. Run by the railways themselves, these outlets are expected to provide edible food at reasonable prices.
