One of the biggest tourist attractions in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the trip to picturesque Matheran on the wide-windowed narrow gauge train, will now have to wait till the end of the monsoon.

On Monday, Central Railway announced that it had decided to suspend the services between Neral and Matheran with immediate effect as monsoon has set in. However, shuttle services between Matheran and Aman Lodge will continue to run as per scheduled timetable published and in force from July 2013. The re-opening of the section for running of services between Neral and Matheran will be notified later.
