MUMBAI
More than 300 developers from 32 cities across the state attended the general body meeting of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI-Maharashtra) held at Vashi recently.
In the meeting, which was held at Imperial banquet hall, the builders from the satellite city raised their voice against the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) guidelines, issues relating to the environment clearances and the fire-related guidelines.
Apart from these, the other important issues that are affecting the construction industry were also discussed. The developers felt that these issues not only affect the industry, but also the buyers. It was also brought to the notice of the members that the cement price has been increasing. Within a year, the price of a cement bag has gone up to Rs290 from Rs210.
This practice by the cement manufacturers is directly affecting the construction industry and to protest against this, it was decided that a letter would be written to the companies and the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) authorities.
The issue of charging unjustified stamp duty on the basis of floor space index of the plot was also discussed by the developers.
President of CREDAI-Maharashtra, Anant Rajegaonkar, who chaired the meeting, highlighted the issues successfully pushed by the association such as Development Control (DC) rules for the A, B and C class municipal corporations in Maharashtra.
State minister of state for urban development, Uday Samant, who also attended the meeting, said that the DC rules for A, B and C class municipal corporations in the state would benefit the general public.
The new rules will be published by the state government soon, he said, and promised to look into the issues raised by the developers.
