CCTV cameras to now look for suspect in Kurla

The police seem to be taking every measure to bring to book the culprit in the Kurla rape and murder cases. They have installed CCTV cameras at some places in the slums in Nehru Nagar in order to spot the suspect. Even after questioning several people and collecting DNA samples of around 77 suspects, the police have not been able get a clue about the suspect. 

Not only policemen from various parts of the city are deployed in the area, but local people too have been roped in to keep an eye for any suspicious person moving about. 

Police officers dressed in plain clothes and in disguise are patrolling Alidada Nagar and Vatsala Tai Nagar day and night. Women police officers are keeping vigil on the activities of people in these areas.

Shopkeepers, mohalla committee members, local party workers are constantly keeping in touch with the police. 

Police informers are being put on the job to collect information about the suspect and places like beer bars, local food joints, markets are closely monitored to check if anyone having close resemblance to the accused is spotted at these places. The police have released the ketch of the suspect a few days back.

“The only priority of police officers from the senior level to constabulary now is to crack the cases and nab the accused at any cost. Every face that we see throughout the day is compared with the one in the sketch. We are keeping a close watch on people whose movements are suspicious,” said a police officer requesting anonymity.

“No one is allowed to leave without an identiy check and questioning. Their addresses and other details are noted so that if in future we need to question them, they can be contacted.”
