CCTV cameras will be installed in state transport buses to check crimes against women, home minister RR Patil assured members of the legislative council on Saturday. The issue was brought to the notice of the chair by Neelam Gorhe, Sena MLC in the wake of a woman conductor being molested in a bus in Kalyan a few days ago.

Gorhe also demanded that an inquiry should be conducted into the case, and stringent action taken against the culprit. Describing the plight of women conductors, she said they didn't have separate changing rooms or toilets. Patil assured her that the "accused will be punished and due process of law will be followed,"

GPS: To a question by Niranjan Davkhare about GPS system on police vehicles, the home minister said GPS system would be installed in all four-wheelers in the police department. That would help in minimising the response time in reaching a crime spot, he added.

Mobile tower revenue: Cooperative minister Harshwardhan Patil said cooperative housing societies would have pay 50% of the revenue they generate through installation of mobile towers/advertisement boards with members of the society as dividend.

He also said that keeping in mind the health hazards (radiation) involved, a society, to intal a mobile tower in its premises, should have the approval of 70% of its members. And in case there are any health hazards to members of the society, the society would be responsible for it, he added.
