RN Podar School's Asutos Mohapatra, who topped the school in the CBSE's Std X exams with 97.6%, has attributed his success to mock drills.

Talking to dna, Mohapatra said, "I always attended the mock drill sessions (solving board exam papers within the same time as the actual examination) in my school and they helped me a lot to score well in my exams. I had joined a coaching class to prepare for my board exams, but I left it midway because I was not very happy with it. I decided to do self-study, in fact, I preferred it. I also referred NCERT books. I took a break of two months from everything just to concentrate on my studies, but I didn't follow any pattern as such."

Mohapatra, who is also preparing for his IIT-JEE entrance exam, has decided to continue with his school for junior college.

Another CBSE student, Nehar Rajapurkar from Rajhans Vidyalaya in Andheri, scored 96.2%. Rajapurkar, who has an educational background, said, "My parents being professors were very helpful during my board exams. I also joined coaching classes to prepare. I studied for six to seven hours a day and that helped me a lot. I wish to go in science stream and have decided to be a surgeon."

"If one wants to score high like this, having a schedule for study is necessary, as is studying thoroughly from the books and listening to teachers in class. And, last but not the least, one shouldn't forget to maintain a balance between studies and other activities," he added.
