The Catholic Church in Mumbai will unveil a new faith app on Wednesday to help people better pursue the walk with god.The app, to be launched by Oswald Cardinal Gracias, who is head of the Catholic Church in Mumbai, will contain general prayers like the rosary, readings from the Bible and answers to most frequently asked questions on the faith."The idea is to help the people in all the dimensions of the faith through this facility in the palm of the hand," said Fr Nigel Barrett, co-ordinator of the Catholic Communication Centre (CCC), which has designed the app.The initiative is a convenient way to reach out to people, who are otherwise caught up in the fast pace of life, but are wired up through various electronic devices. The faith app, which has also mapped the location of churches in the city and lists their religious services, will be available free at Google play stores. To begin with it will be usable on Android-based devices. A link will also be available on the website of the archdiocese.A novel section, labeled 'Carbon Fast', describes 40 ways to help protect the environment during the 40 days of the Lenten season which begins on Wednesday."In a way, the application puts different strains of Bhakti together," said Fr Melroy Fernandes, who is on the CCC team.
