According to the police, Vinay Aggrawal was arrested and released on bail on Friday after acquiring anticipatory bail from the Bombay High Court.

A 32-year-old investor consultant from Malad had alleged that Aggrawal cheated her to the tune of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of giving her a cheap home and later molested her inside a BMW car owned by her outside Infinity Mall. When the complainant approached Amboli police station to file a complaint, PSI Mukta Phadtare allegedly slapped the complainant repeatedly and dragged her by her hair when the complainant threatened to approach Mumbai Police Commissioner Dattatray Padsalgikar.

"We have set up an enquiry into the incident. The woman had approached senior police officers to complain against the PSI. The matter is under scrutiny," said Bharat Gaikwad, Senior Police Inspector, Amboli police station. "We arrested the accused in the case and after completing the formalities, he was released as he had secured an anticipatory bail order from the Bombay High Court," added Gaikwad.

The complainant said, "The police is conducting a biased investigation. Instead of arresting the accused on the same night, they chose to release him and made me wait until 1 am to file the complaint. I am ready to fight a legal battle against the female cop."
