Carpenter rapes Borivli woman

A 36-year-old married woman from Borivli has lodged a rape case against a carpenter with the Thane nagar police station. The accused has been identified as Manoj Singh, 40, alias Bantu and is Ghodbunder Road resident.

According to the complaint, in July 2015 the accused met her through a common friend. They began chatting and they got into a relationship. The accused invited her for lunch once, but forced her to drink alcohol. She alleged that she was raped and the accused also made a video. When the victim confronted him, she was threatened. He even warned her that if she disclosed the incident to anyone then he will circulate the video on social networking site and also send it to her husband.

He is booked under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.
