MUMBAI: A car caught fire on the Western Express highway on Saturday while the passengers escaped unhurt.

The vehicle, reportedly a private one, caught fire on the Western Express Highway in the north-west suburb of Dahisar at around 9:10 am, fire officials said, adding that there were no reports of any casualties or injuries.

The cause of the fire was presently unknown, fire officials said, adding that further investigations were on.

In a separate incident, an abandoned bungalow caught fire in the tiny Pali Hill area in the north-west suburb of Bandra.

Four fire engines and three tankers had been rushed to the spot, fire officials said, adding that the cause of the fire was not known.
