Cancel Sunil Paraskar's bail as he's in touch with criminals, says model's advocate

The advocate of the model who has accused the senior IPS officer Sunil Paraskar or rape and molestation, on Thursday again pleaded before the court for cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted to him.

The advocate, Chitra Salunke, told the sessions court that Paraskar, took undue advantage of the liberty he enjoyed as a police officer.

The lawyer claimed that it had been revealed during the police investigation in the case that the police officer, who has since been suspended, was in touch with persons with a criminal background.

Salunkhe told dna, "Today, the Chembur police filed their reports before the court that clearly mentioned a person named Anil Jadhav, a cop who has been suspended, was in constant touch with Paraskar and Deepak Gupta."

Gupta has been named as trying to bribe the advocate to withdraw from the case.

"Therefore, according to the police, it appeared that there was a possibility of the three conspiring with each other. But the police have also claimed that the investigations are still in progress," Salunkhe said.

The court has asked Paraskar to file his reply on the matter and adjourned the hearing to Monday.

A special women's court had granted anticipatory bail to Paraskar on August 12, saying his custodial interrogation was was not required in connection with the case.

The 25-year-old model has alleged that Paraskar, 57, molested and sexually assaulted her on two occasions in December last year. She says she met Paraskar first in 2012, when he was additional commissioner of police, with regard to a case.

Paraskar's lawyer argued that the allegations were false and pointed to the delay in registration of the complaint.

An FIR was registered against him by the Malwani police mid-July, under sections 376(2) (rape by a police officer), 376(c) (intercourse by uperintendent of jail, remand home, etc) and 354(d) (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code.
