A cable operator Dildar Badshaha Pathan (25) was murdered by a group of five unidentified men around 4.30 pm on Tuesday at Laxminagar near Dahanukar Colony, Kothrud.

Senior police inspector Chandrakant Ghodke of Kothrud police station said, “Pathan, who was providing cable service in the area since the past few years, had a dispute with some local party workers over setting up flex in the area. Besides, Pathan had also had a spat with some local party workers a fortnight ago.”
“Pathan, who was on his way home, was attacked near Laxminagar. Five unidentified men came on two separate motorcycles and assaulted Pathan with choppers. Later, Pathan was rushed to a local hospital with severe injuries. He succumbed to his injuries later in the day.” Ghodke said.
A police team has been sent in search of the suspects, Ghodke added.
Man held with charas
Sugriv Kumar Mulbahadur Okamagar (31), a native of Nepal, was arrested by the Faraskhana police on Monday and seized 4.578 kg charas worth over Rs nine lakh from his possession.
Acting on a tip-off, the police team led by inspector (crime) HS Bhapkar laid a trap near Sonya Maruti Chowk on Laxmi Road at 3.45 pm and nabbed Sugriv and recovered the narcotics from him.
According to the prosecution, the suspect smuggled the drug from Nepal to Pune for selling it to a prospective customer.
He was produced in the court of judicial magistrate (first class) ST Sakhare-Sahare. Arguing for 14-day police custody, assistant public prosecutor Rajashree Kadam told the court that the police need to investigate the crime.
They want to find out who are the accomplices and to whom he was trying to sell the drug. However, he was granted police custody till January 3.
