The students from Dr TM Dhonde School of Nursing in Beed were on their way to Shrivardhan as part of their college tour. The bus was carrying 28 students, three faculty members and a staffer.

Parashuram Walikar, one of the staffers accompanying the students, said, “The driver was driving very fast and he must have lost control over the vehicle. The bus went off the road and hit a big tree before falling into the gorge. The driver died on the spot. We then brought the students to Pune for treatment on another bus in the night and admitted them to Sassoon.”

Dean of Sassoon Hospital, Renu Bharadwaj, said, “All the injured were brought to Sassoon at 10 pm. They were immediately given the required treatment. Four of them are being treated for fractures. Rest of the students with minor injuries were discharged by Saturday evening. All of them are out of danger now,” he said.
