MUMBAI
Downtown duo create a budding space with their niche music sensibilities.
For Nakul Sharma and Sahil Bhatia, what started off as a shot in the dark has panned out into a full blown career path backed by a lot of effort, innovative music sensibilities, and a sincere love for the genre. Sharma and Bhatia say, “When we made Red Cat and put it out there, we had absolutely no idea what was in store for us. It being picked up by a label (Spindisc Recordings) and getting the kind of response that it did become a driving force for us and inspired greater creativity in us.”
Following Redcat, Burudu, powered by duo Sharma and Bhatia, produced World at War, Georgina and ambitiously ventured into setting up their Label’esque structure, Sun Theory. Bhatia explains, “We do not want to simply produce music as a money churning aesthetic; as we progress and consolidate our genre and music, we want our dual synergy to exploit the entire tangent. Maybe not on an immediate basis, but sooner or later we want set up a foundation that not only helps provide a channel for this specific kind of music production, but also backs the country’s indigenous talents.”
Apart from getting their music out, Burudu is also working on roping in talent for future ventures. They are working incessantly on churning out more music while making a conscious effort to not stray from the core of their creativity. Currently concentrating on their musical output, Burudu has not only managed to surpass the standard set by any fresh musical duo, but also consolidated its worth via online support, soundcloud presence and a youtube channel.
Explaining how they want to chart Burudu’s plan of action, Nakul elaborates, “For now, we are more than happy creating the kind of music we love and are very true to its essence, but once we are out there, we want to take it one step ahead. We will want to play out there to the crowd but not as a means of publicity but as a means to spread our music with the bracket and further strengthen our loyalties to the genre and the general musical sensibilities of the people.”
By the look of it, Burudu is going to add a fresh new perspective to the music spectrum and venture successfully into a plethora of uncharted territories, while setting a benchmark for Indian Electronic Music!
