Builder fined Rs 5L in cheating case
The Mazgaon Metropolitan Magistrate Court recently acted upon a complaint filed by a Kalachowki resident who was cheated by a developer. The developer was sentenced to imprisonment and also levied a fine of Rs 5 lakh, payable to the complainant.

Dadaso Yadav, 35, had invested in a project raised by Maya Developers in December 2010 and had paid Rs 2 lakh as booking amount. He was promised possession of the flat by July 2012. However, the developer failed to even initiate the construction by then.
Yadav then asked the developer to return the booking amount, which was paid to him by cheque; but the cheque bounced. A case was then registered against the developer.
