The latest transport office will handle vehicle related work between Goregaon and Dahisar and the new vehicles getting registered here will bear the registration number starting from MH-47.

"Various aspects would be covered under the transport bill that we are working on, including autorickshaws, taxis and cab aggregators," said Raote during the inauguration function.

There are various instances of scrapped taxis and autos coming back on road, stringent clauses in the state's transport Act may be included to curb this.

"Those areas of transport sector that Road Transport and Safety Bill, 2014 misses out on will get covered in the state government's legislation so that the entire transport sector in Maharashtra is covered holistically," said an official.

A meeting of the committee formed for state's legislation will be meeting on Thursday.
