The incident took place on Tuesday night when the thieves attempted to enter into a house at Vichare compound in Borivli when the victim was caught by the accused
The MHB colony police, in Borivli, arrested three persons who allegedly lynched a 35-year-old man to death on Thursday. The accused trespassed into the deceased's house in Borivali with the intention of theft.
The accused have been identified as Omkar Sawant, Pradip Kamble and Satya Nair, all residents of Borivali.
According to the police, the incident took place on Tuesday night when the thieves attempted to enter into a house at Vichare compound in Borivli when the victim was caught by the accused. The police said the accused then gagged him to a tree and brutally assaulted him with batons and belts till he died.
After killing him they dumped his body on the side of a road side in front of the forest department's office in Borivali.
On Wednesday few locals spotted the body lying on the road and informed the police, who then rushed the body to hospital for postmortem, which declared that he died due to grievous assault.
