MUMBAI: Police searched three mosques in suburban Jogeshwari on Sunday afternoon after an unidentified caller claimed that bombs have been planted inside the mosque.

However, the call turned out to be a hoax, police said. The caller claimed that bombs had been placed in the mosque and would explode as a procession passed by it in the afternoon, they said.

The procession was organised by some local residents to protest the number of house-breaking incidents in the area.

However, police thoroughly checked the three mosques and found no explosives. No arrests have been made, police added.
