The agency was directed to submit a report on the scam before August 17, the HC bench also asked the railways to find out what modus operandi the accused were using and its plans to ensure that such a scam is not repeated.

The directions were given during the hearing of a public interest litigation filed by social activist Samir Zaveri, who alleged that certain RPF personnel were releasing persons booked for trespassing and crossing railway tracks on fake cash bail bonds. In his PIL, he alleged that a head-constable acted as a magistrate and granted bail to the offenders and the money collected was misappropriated by them.
