Bomb hoax creates panic at Malad mall

An phone call to the land line of Infinity Mall at Malad (West) on Friday afternoon created panic among 2,000-odd people inside it.
Mall authorities told police that the caller warned of a bomb being kept on its premises. A bomb disposal squad, a dog squad and nearly 200 police personnel were rushed to the spot and a search operation lasting two-and-a-half hours carried out. However, nothing suspicious was found.

Stating that the call from London was directed to the mall’s land line around 2.30pm, inspector Pradeep Kale of the Bangur Nagar police said, “Fortunately it was afternoon and the crowd was less. We with help from the mall’s security guards managed to vacate the premises in half an hour.” Another police officer said the caller’s intention was seems to create panic.

“Around four teams of bomb and dog squads, QRT and over a 100 police personnel along with the mall security guards searched the premises, but found nothing,” said Kale.
