The project will incur Rs 13 crore of cost
The BMC is going to take a decision on providing free health treatment of children up to 18-years of age in civic hospitals. The proposal has come from the public health committee backed by the administration. The project will incur Rs 13 crore of cost.
National programme 'Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram' has been launched in 2013. The purpose of RBSK is to improve survival, development and the quality of life of children in the age group of 0 to 18 years through early detection of defects at birth, diseases, deficiencies, development delays including disability and follow-up for appropriate management and treatment if required (medical or surgical).
RBSK envisages covering 30 common health conditions prevalent in children for early detection and free intervention and treatment. The civic body administration proposed free treatment as per this programme. The proposal will be discussed in the standing committee for approval on Wednesday.
