BMC already received 84 complaints of waterlogging today

The BMC control room received 28 complaints of trees collapsing and 11 complaints of wall / slab collapses.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s disaster control cell received as many as 84 complaints of waterlogging since Monday morning, said officers. Spots that see chronic floods every monsoon were inundated once again – Hindmata in Dadar, Parel TT, Andheri and Malad subways, DN Nagar in Andheri, Saki Naka, RCF Circle and VN Purav Marg in Chembur.

While two waterlogging complaints came from the island city, 30 were from the eastern suburbs and 52 from the western suburbs. From 8 am to 1 pm on Monday, weather stations recorded average rainfall of 48 mm in the island city, 30 mm in the western suburbs and 31 mm in the eastern suburbs.

Average rainfall recorded in the 24 hours in ending at 8.30 am on Monday was 69.65 mm for the island city, 154.25 mm in the western suburbs and 109.38 mm in the eastern suburbs.

The BMC control room received 28 complaints of trees collapsing and 11 complaints of wall / slab collapses.

The BMC also announced that the Mumbai Port Trust Road from Priyadarshini Circle to P D’Mello Road in South Mumbai was being opened for motorists minus the usual toll charge in order to tackle the growing traffic bottlenecks on the city’s arterial roads.
