Microsoft co-founder and one of the world’s richest men, Bill Gates, will donate about Rs100 crore for a proposed Rs250 crore research institute to study the impact of climate change on crops. The institute is to come up in Bihar.

Union minister for agriculture Sharad Pawar said that Gates had offered to help the project that is being set up by the agriculture ministry.

Pawar was speaking at a function organised by the Suryakant Pawar Foundation, which distributed Rs50 lakhs to 22 non-governmental organisations from different parts of Maharashtra.
