Biker molests woman near Mulund, held

The Navghar police have arrested a 38-year-old man who allegedly outraged the modesty of a woman. The victim lodged a complain after the accused Viren Shah, said to be serviceman touched her inappropriately while she was alone, while brisk walking at her locality.

According to the police, last week on Thursday, the victim was out for her routine walk at Sambhaji Maidan. On the way, near RR Educational Trust campus bus stop at Mulund east, Shah on finding the victim alone approached towards her on his bike and later touched her chest after which he fled away and vanished.

"Complaint has been registered under section 354 (punishment of outraging woman's modesty) at Navghar police station. The search for Shah intensified as there is no clue about him or his vehicle. There was no other eye-witnesses at the spot too.

Based on investigation, Shah was later picked up from R City mall in Ghatkopar east. He confessed to the crime and he is being further interrogated by the police. We are also ascertaining whether Shah has any criminal background at any of the police stations. Shah has been sent to police custody till Monday," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 7, Akhilesh Kumar.
