Bigamist on the run after cheating Thane girl
"The complainant revealed that the girl was cheated as he was already married to another woman named Reshma More, 28. He married his daughter and cheated her of Rs4,95,745," said a police officer.
The Rabodi police have booked a 29-year-old man for allegedly cheating a woman of more than Rs4 lakh after she learnt that he was married. The police is yet to arrest the accused.
According to Rabodi police, Omkar Sovat, a resident of Koper in Dombivli, married a resident of Thane. After marriage, he took the cost of wedding cards from the woman's father. The woman's father approached the police and registered a complaint.
"The complainant revealed that the girl was cheated as he was already married to another woman named Reshma More, 28. He married his daughter and cheated her of Rs4,95,745," said a police officer.
"We are investigating if the man has married more than one woman in the same way. We will arrest him under section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code," said DD Edake, investigating officer.
"The girl is shocked after learning about her husband's first wife. We are contacting the family members to know more about the background of the accused," added Edake.
