Fourteen people were injured after a BEST bus collided with an MSRTC bus on Sunday in Goregaon (West). Around 7.45am, BEST bus number 204 was taking a right turn near Jawahar Nagar Hall on SV Road to go towards Goregaon railway station when it collided with  Alibaug-bound ST bus. The MSRTC bus, carrying at least 34 passengers, was going to Agrao village near Alibaug from Borivli.A police officer said, “The BEST bus took a right turn too fast and collided with the ST bus. The ST bus hit the middle portion of the BEST bus.”Nine passengers of ST bus and the driver were injured. Three passengers of BEST bus and its conductor too sustained injuries. While 13 sustained minor injuries and were discharged from Siddharth Hospital, a passenger of ST bus, Mahindra Jaiswal, 52, has been admitted to Nair Hospital for an eye injury. The driver of BEST bus Ramji Yadav, 39, has been arrested for rash driving, causing grievous hurt by endangering the lives of others and other relevant sections of the IPC.  Yadav’s preliminary examination revealed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. He has been let off on bail.After the accident, the MSRTC dispatched a standby bus from the Borivli depot to take passengers to Alibaug.“Both the transport agencies along with the police are investigating the incident,”said Virendra Bagul, spokesperson of BEST.
