The two-day exhibition of Mercedes-Benz cars in Kolhapur concluded with a stimulating response on Sunday as more than 60 businessmen showed interest in buying their cars on the first day of the exhibition of the car at Residency Club on Saturday.

Pune dealer BU Bhandari and the industries associations in the district — Kolhapur Chambers of Commerce and Industries (KCCI), Kolhapur Engineering Association, Gokul Shirgaon Manufacturing Association, Shiroli Manufacturers Association and Manufacturing Association of Kagal — have put up the cars various models on display at the club.

The exhibition intends to press for the car’s mass booking in Kolhapur. Businessmen and industrialists in the city have resolved to purchase over 250 Mercedes-Benz cars through mass booking.

Professionals from all sections have already made primary bookings for 180 cars. Interestingly, Kolhapur already boasts of a meaty 110 Mercs.

A few months ago, industrialists in Aurangabad had purchased 150 Mercedes-Benz cars. “Kolhapur citizens are amongst the greatest motorists in the country, where even the smallest cars are also well-maintained. Mercedes-Benz has always fascinated us. With this effort we wish to offer some more benefits to the car buyers,” KCCI president Anant Mane said.

Mane said more than 100 businessmen took test drives on Saturday while 60 others showed interest in purchasing cars. “We are discussing a concessional loan scheme for car buyers with the State Bank of India and Axis Bank. Besides, a cheap and flexible car insurance option is also being discussed with a few insurance companies,” Mane said.

Models ML-Class, E-Class, S-Class, C-Class and GL-Class of the Mercedes Benz had been put on display at the exhibition. Mane said it will take another three months to determine the exact number of car bookings.
