The MMRDA, however, denied that the mishap was connected to work at the Metro site. “It happened near Marol metro station. It is a road accident and not related to Metro work,” said Dilip Kawathkar, MMRDA joint project director.

A police officer from Sahar police station said: “Three persons were injured in the incident. They were admitted to a local hospital and were discharged after first-aid.”

Officials of Reliance Infrastructure — one of the companies of Mumbai Metro One Private Ltd that is building the metro — said the mishap had “nothing to do with the Metro work”. They added that a rope hanging from a running tempo got entangled in the barrier which crashed on hit the rickshaw.
