In 2008, he had been arrested for allegedly molesting a Chinese woman while committing a theft at her Khar flat.
“The modus operandi in the Spanish woman’s rape was similar to that in the Khar case," said a police officer, who had arrested Ansari in the 2008 case. “Ansari broke into the Khar flat at night. As he was looking for items to steal, the Chinese national woke up. He thought she was alone at home and tried to misbehave with her. But she screamed for help and those sleeping in the other room caught him.”
