Bandra cops wish via hoarding, locals fume

Move over politicians, now the Mumbai police have joined the race for defacing the city by putting up hoardings. The Bandra police have put up a hoarding on its compound wall wishing people during Ganeshotsav.

Angered by the move, residents of Bandra have written to police commissioner Satyapal Singh and additional police commissioner Vishwas Nangre-Patil objecting to the ‘religious’ hoarding. Earlier, the Bandra police had put the hoarding during Ramzan Eid and Pateti.

“We are seeing it for the first time and are not against any religion. If the police are involved in it, then how do we expect action against politicians who normally put up hoardings and deface the city,” asked Anil Joseph, chairperson of Perry Road Residents Association.

He said the only religion police should follow is work and no religious symbolism or symbols of any religion should be seen in police stations across the city. “They should follow the lead sect of our armed forces wherein no religion is followed except Indianness. Now, they might put up Jesus Christ’s photo during Christmas but I would rather prefer to see him in Church,” said Joseph.
