Baba Ramdev may soon visit the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay in Powai to lecture management students coming from more than 150 institutes. In an annual event of the school, the organisers have invited the spiritual guru to lecture on the festival’s theme ‘Change, Evolve and Sustain’.
At Avenues, the annual event of the Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, the list of invitees includes leading figures from all walks of life each year. “Keeping in mind this year’s theme, our speakers will speak about their respective fields and relate it to the larger theme. Baba Ramdev is an eminent spiritual guru. A lot of stress management is involved when we talk about sustainability in any area today. He would talk about it,” said Gaurav Chouksey, the overall co-ordinator of Avenues, scheduled for October 23 and 24.
Chouksey added that though Baba Ramdev is coming for Avenues, he generally needs two to three hours for his session, which is why the day for his session is not confirmed. “We are planning a separate session especially for him as it is difficult to have him along other business events, which are for a comparatively shorter time period. We may extend the date of Avenues to accommodate him separately,” added Chouksey.
Kamal Haasan, Adi Godrej and Subrata Roy, S Gurumurthy and Satish Jha will be the other noted speakers; Arun Shourie and Baba Ramdev are yet to confirm their visit. New events this year include Navonmesh, an international entrepreneurship convention where the participants will either build a viable business plan or play the role of a venture capitalist and strike a deal. In another event, students will be given a marketing case study to develop the strategy to strengthen the brand image of a product. Students from several B-schools, including the Indian Institutes of Management, will be participating in the event.
