MUMBAI: A Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) team is likely to leave for Lucknow in the next few days to interrogate Faheem. The ATS believes Faheem, said to hail from Rawalpindi, may have contacts in Mumbai and could have clandestinely visited the city and smaller towns.

“We are going to interrogate him since charges against him and his associates are too specific. Also, we need to investigate the cohesion between disparate LeT modules and units on the imminent Mumbai attack plan,” said a senior ATS officer.

KL Meena, inspector general of the Uttar Pradesh police special task force, told DNA, “The arrested LeT operatives were in an advanced stage of planning and were intending to blow up targets in Mumbai. For that they may be exerting a shaping influence over operatives (perhaps members of jihadi sleeper cells) back in Mumbai and were in touch with them and had also rented a house to handle logistics.”
