Noted art critique and writer, Dnyaneshwar Nadkarni (82), died of old age in the city on Thursday evening. He is survived by wife, a son and
two daughters.

Nadkarni served with the ministry of external affairs and was posted in the UK between 1951 and ‘53. Born in Jogeshwari, Mumbai, earned an MA before joining government service. Soon he joined Free Press Journal and Financial Express, and also wrote short stories for prestigious Marathi magazines like Mauj and Satyakatha.
He penned novels, short stories and travelogues, among them Paus, Bharati, Prasthan, Kondi, Nazarband and Valayankit. He was recognised by French government with special award in 1984.
He also delivered lectures at various fora and institutions in art criticism.
