Antop Hill police on Saturday arrested Hiralala Yadav, 25, in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old woman. The accused and deceased were both residents of Antop Hill and allegedly had an old feud.
Late on Friday, the victim was home alone when Yadav broke the door and reportedly strangled her to death. He then fled the area. A neighbour discovered the body and rushed the victim to Sion Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. “We have booked Yadav under section 302 (murder) of IPC and remanded him to police custody,” said an officer.
The police also suspect that the accused raped the woman. Her vaginal swabs were sent to the forensic laboratory and reports are awaited.
