The police have raided a second poppy farm in Satara district, this time in Eksal village in Koregaon taluka on Wednesday night.

The police on March 6 had raided poppy crops in Nidhal village in Kathav taluka and arrested a farmer, Bajrang Khuspe. The police raided the poppy field in the village and arrested the farmer, Dnyaneshwar Bhosale.

Bhosale allegedly cultivated poppy as an intercrop among cane and onion on his farm area of two acres. After the raid in Nidhal, Bhosale tried to remove the poppy and cut poppy plants were stashed in the field.

However, an informer informed the Koregaon police.  A team led by deputy superintendent of police, Ulhas Deshmukh carried out the raid. The seized poppy weighed 88 kg.
