The Mumbai police will soon be demolishing the annex building located inside the Mumbai police headquarters after an audit report by the Public Works Department (PWD) found it to be in a dilapidated state. The building has offices of some of the important sections of the crime branch and the recently built police canteen.

According to a source, the PWD sometime back had carried out a structural audit of the four-storied annex building. A few days back, the Mumbai police received the report which identified the building as old and dilapidated and suggested that it be razed.

"We have received the report and on the basis of that we will be demolishing the building. All the offices that it houses will be shifted to some other place," said Dhananjay Kamlakar, joint commissioner of police (Economic Offences Wing).

The annex building currently have a police canteen on the ground floor, Cyber Crime Cell, Modus Operandi unit and office of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) (Missing persons Bureau) on the first floor and two units of EOW on the second floor. The third floor has the important units like property cell, anti extortion cell and crime intelligence unit.
