Hazare fell out with Arvind Kejriwal and his fellow colleagues after they decided to take the political plunge, and stayed away. Kejriwal and his colleagues then formed the AAP and it grew on the anti-corruption plank. The crusader since has been having intermittent show of support and disapproval. He did congratulate Kejriwal when he won the election.

In the letter declaring support to Patkar, Hazare has also expressed support to Raju Shetti, Member of Parliament, and Sadabhau Khot of Swabhimani Paksha. The crusader has justified his support stating that these people had been involved in people's movements for long.
