The Worli Unit of the Anti-Narcotics cell on Saturday arrested two persons, hailing from Gujarat, for allegedly possessing 10 kg of cannabis worth Rs 41 lakh from Nagpada.

The accused have been identified as Samirbeg Shabirbeg Mirza (29) and Noman Gulam Haider Shaikh (24).

According to the police, they had received a specific information that two drug suppliers from Gujarat have been providing drugs in Maharashtra. Following the information, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivdeep Lande, the police placed a dummy order and to lure the accused into entering the city.

According to police, a trap had been laid for the accused. The moment they reached Nagpada, both men were arrested. Each had five kg cannabis in their possession.

"We have seized 10 kg cannabis from two bags, which they were carrying and have arrested the accused. They were produced in court and have been remanded to police custody by the court," said Shivdeep Lande, DCP, ANC.
