Describing Anant Pai as one who had genuine love for the children and for their emotional and spiritual development, Maharashtra governor K Sankaranarayanan has expressed profound grief over the demise of the creator of Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle comics.In a condolence message, the governor said: "Anant Pai had genuine love for children and for their emotional and spiritual development. He had an undying passion for explaining the rich cultural heritage of India to children through stories and comics."For more than 50 years, he wrote hundreds of books which were translated into several Indian and foreign languages. Many of the fabled characters created by him have been orphaned by his demise."At a personal level, Uncle Pai came across as a gem of a person with a child’s heart. His demise is a setback to the world of children's literature. Generations of people who grew up reading his books will always miss their beloved Uncle Pai," he said.
