'Ammi, forgive me': Hasnain while killing mom

After attacking his youngest sister Subiya, Hasnain Warekar had then attacked his mother, sobbing as he did so and saying, "Ammi, mujhe maaf kar dena (Mother, forgive me)," as heard by Subiya, who'd been pretending to be dead. A team of investigators revealed this on Monday.

The investigators also said that as soon as Hasnain hanged himself from the staircase in the house, Subiya managed to reach the main door and scream for help, saying that her brother had a knife in his hand and was intent on killing everyone in his family. It was only later that she realised that everybody in the house was already dead.

"His hands did not tremble even while killing his own parents and children. The surviving sister said she heard him sobbing while killing his mother. Also, after his wife was attacked in a first-floor bedroom, her body came rolling down the staircase to the ground floor," said a police officer.

Ashutosh Dumbare, joint CP, Thane, said, "Hasnain was often called upon to carry out animal sacrifices since he could administer clean cuts on the necks of goats and chickens, and was familiar to seeing animals being left to die while bleeding profusely."

Meanwhile, the cops are awaiting forensic reports of the food and cold drinks served at the 'daawat' to ascertain if sedatives were mixed in these. Dumbare said, "If sedatives were mixed, it would be clear that the killings were well-planned. If not, Hasnain could then be suffering from some psychological condition, such as multiple personality disorder."

A senior police officer added, "We have found that the accused had terminated all his online activities before the killings. The cyber cell is now collecting further data, which would be produced in a day or two."
