A robotics team of five girls will represent India at the 'largest Robotic Olympic' competition in Dubai later this month. These teenagers will make a robot for cleaning oceans for possible use by scientists in the future. This year's theme 'Ocean Opportunities' is focused on ocean pollution that adversely affects marine life. This event organised by the First Global Challenge will be held between October 24-27 where more than 2,000 students from 193 countries will be competing.

Participating teams are composed of students – aged 14 through 18 years – with the common goal of increasing their knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The team leader Aarushi Shah will work on robot designs, robot making, and electrical parts and is from Bombay International School. Radhika Sekhsariya is a student at Oberoi International school and will work on fundraising of robot parts and programming. Aayushi Nainan and Lavanya Iyyer are students of Dhirubhai Ambani International School and will work on the configuration and construction of the robot along with Jasmeher Kocher, a student at Poddar International school.

Speaking to DNA Shah said, "I am studying in 12th Std. This is a really great opportunity for us to make a robot. The scientists will use our robot to save marine life and clean the ocean."

Team manager Priti Patel said, "This is a really happy movement for me that these girls will represent India. These girls are selected after a technical test of four difficult rounds."
