Mohini Lande and Raju Misal are the ruling Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) official candidates for the mayor and deputy mayor posts for Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

The party’s PCMC unit president Azam Pansare declared the names on Friday.

A three-time corporator, Mohini Lande is the wife of Bhosari MLA Vilas Lande. Raju Misal is elected from Sant Tukaram Udyan panel in Nigdi-Pradhikaran area. The mayoral election will be held during the first general body meeting of PCMC on March 13. The mayoral title has been reserved for a woman from the general category. Of the 128 seats in the house, NCP has won 83 and has the support of nine independents.

Ajit Pawar had selected Mohini, who was not given any title for the last two terms.

NCP’s Prabhakar Waghere, Javed Sheikh and Rohit Kate were eyeing the deputy mayor post, but Raju Misal, considered close to Pansare, was chosen for the job. Ajit Pawar had chaired the party meeting organised to finalise the names in Pimpri on Thursday. The party had received ten applications for the post of mayor, four for the post of deputy mayor.
