The relatives of stranded tourists had to wait for hours on Monday to meet deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and Member of Parliament Supriya Sule.
People had started gathered at the collector’s office since 9am. Pawar was holding the district planning and development committee meeting. But left without meeting the relatives. The relatives had a heated argument with the NCP workers. They were then told that Pawar would meet them at Sagar Sankul at 4pm.
Sule told the relatives, “Union agriculture minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar has spoken to the army chief and asked him to start the search and rescue operation with the help of the IAS officers who are in Uttarakhand.” She also promised that the situation would be reviewed and asked them to wait for 24 hours for fresh updates.
