In a major twist, a Customs officer working at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) at Sahar has come under the scanner of the police department for his alleged involvement in the Mephedrone (M-Cat) racket case. The police, during their probe, have learnt that police constable Dharmaraj Kalokhe had received some part of the consignment of 112 kilograms of M-Cat from a Customs officer at Sahar. Kalokhe was produced before a court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody till April 1."Kalokhe, during the course of custodial interrogation, claimed that a Customs officer from Sahar airport had given him the consignment of M-Cat. We are interrogating him further about the officer involved. Kalokhe has also said that his associate Shashikala alias Baby Patankar too gave him contraband in order to dispose them of," said a police officer, requesting anonymity. The police are probing whether the said consignment of M-Cat was part of any seizures made by the airport Customs department.According to police sources, Kalokhe, through his illegal drug business, is believed to have bought several properties in benami names. "It has also come to light during our investigation that Kalokhe's associate Patankar had given him more consignment of contraband to dispose of," said a police source.
