The government on Wednesday informed the Delhi high court that the process had already begun and the installation would be completed by December 2012. The move came in response to a PIL demanding installation of gamma radiation scanners in all scrap markets of the capital.

The ministry also informed the court that a prototype of the gadget named as Radioactive Detective Equipment has already been installed at the Nava Sheva port in Mumbai.
