Trying to get a learners’ license through an online application has turned out to be quite an issue. People have been complaining that despite filling up online forms, they are not getting appointment to give tests or the dates they are getting are at least two months away.

For the past few days, we have been receiving complaints about delays in issuing appointments to those who want to apply for learners’ license. Sources in the RTO said that there are serious issues with the website, which is maintained by the National Informatics Center in Delhi.

“I will be holding a meeting with NIC in the coming week where I shall raise the issues plaguing the issuance of driving licence,” said Shekhar Channe, Transport Commissioner.

Whenever a person logs into the parivahan website, there face issues in processes required to get a new learners license. The issue is not with filling up the five broad questions asked, but in getting an appointment after that. After filling up the data on ‘Sarathi’, the applicant should ideally get the date for going to the RTO to give the test. However, in few cases, the NIC is not considering the forms filled. When they do, the exam date is nearly two months away.

RTO officials said that there have been cases where the applicant did not receive any acknowledgment of exam dates. In Mumbai, 1,200 applications for learners’ license comes everyday.
