Deceased Sandhya Chauhan, a resident of Boisar, got married to one Anil around three years back. Soon, Anil and his parents allegedly started accusing her of having an affair.

"The girl poured kerosene on her and lit a matchstick. She suffered severe burns and was rushed to a hospital in Valsad, where she died," said a Boisar police officer.

"We have registered a case under sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 497 (A) (harassment by husband or in-laws of a woman) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code," said inspector KS Hegaje of Boisar police station, adding that the accused duo was yet to be arrested.
